My Mac Keyboard Function Key Shortcut Doesn't Work

The keyboard shortcut conflicts with a default Mac OS X key assignment.

Turn off the Mac OS  keyboard shortcut.

For OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)

1. Click "system preferences".
2. Under Hardware, click Keyboard
3. Tick "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.
