For Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.7 Lion, 10.6 Snow Leopard the setting remains the following:

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

Restart Finder by the following

killall Finder

Reverse to Default & Make Files Hidden Again

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE

There is little difference in OS X Mavericks has to do with capitalisation:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE

Restart Finder by the following

killall Finder

Where is the network utility in Mavericks?

Network utility is moved after upgrade from Mountain Lion to Mavericks.

Here is the new way to open it.
1. Go to Application and utilities and open "system information".
2. In the system information window, move the mouse to the menu and window.
3. Then you will see "network utility" below "About this Mac".
4. Click "network utility" and then keep it in Dock.

You can use Excel 2011 for Mac by displaying spreadsheets side by side.

• Open any spreadsheets that you want to view side by side
• Then go to "Layout" tab

• Look under "Window" group and select "Arrange"
• In there, you can display spreadsheets vertically or cascade the windows
• Select "Arrange Windows ... " for the full range of options

• Choose the way you want your windows to display, and select OK to apply your change
